A flashing speed or temp reading or an incorrect temp reading in excess of 3-5 degrees indicates there is a problem.
Here are some suggestions that could solve the problem and prevent you from having to be without your unit!
Temperature Sensors
* Check the Connections: Make sure the sensor is properly installed (fully submerged/no pinched cable) and the connectors are clean.
* Part of a Boat Package: If your unit was part of a boat package, the manufacturer may not have installed a transducer with a built-in temp sensor. Boat manufacturers purchase the display units and then decide what transducer to install.
* Phone a friend: If a friend has the same connections on their boat, try your unit on their cables. If your unit works on the other boat, you sensor may need to be replaced.
* Update the Software: Make sure your unit has the latest software version. Click here to go to the Software Update page on Eaglenav.com. You can download the update for free.
* Reset the Unit: Sometimes resetting your unit can solve unusual issues. Click here to access a list of reset procedures for Eagle products. Locate the one that applies to the model you own. Try a Soft Reset first, this will return your settings to factory defaults.
If you decide to try a Hard Reset, save any important stored data to an MMC or SD card or write the information down. The data will be deleted during this process.
Speed Sensors
* Installation: The paddlewheel must be in a smooth flow of water to be accurate.
* Limitations: Paddlewheel speed sensors are designed to be accurate at trolling speeds (10mph or slower). For higher speeds, GPS is recommended.
* Calibration: The speed sensor can be calibrated. Look in the menu for the Calibrate Water Speed selection.
* Check the Connections: Make sure the sensor is properly installed and the connectors are clean.
